Ryan Giggs Covid lockdow was terrible ex-wife claims in court
  • Living with Ryan Giggs during the first Covid lockdown, according to his ex-girlfriend, was "absolute agony," a court has heard.

The 48-year-old manager of Wales and former star for Manchester United is charged with assaulting Kate Greville and employing coercive and controlling behavior.

Mr. Giggs is accused of assaulting Emma Greville, her younger sister, and of inflicting her substantial physical damage.

He disputes every accusation.

He invited her to live with him in Worsley, Greater Manchester, and they eventually moved in together.

Ryan Giggs:

Ms. Greville stated she did not want to live anywhere else because she "wanted to be with Ryan...since we had just begun the relationship again."

However, Ms. Greville claimed there were disputes, including one involving a dishwasher.

"He was making me feel stupid for filling it out the way I was. I must follow his directions exactly."

Added Ms. Greville: "I made the mistake of going back after he led me to believe he would not do it again. I did, and I'm quite embarrassed of it."

Mr. Daw asked Ms. Greville what she meant when she said Mr. Giggs had "basically isolated you" or "broken your connections with friends and relatives."

Despite the fact that her sister frequented the home, she said that because of how he made her feel, she did not want to "often spend time with my family" or "interact with my friends as much."

She responded that it was "incorrect" to say that the only reason she broke up with Mr. Giggs was that he was a cheat; she had broken up with him for a variety of reasons.

According to testimony given in court, Ms. Greville messaged a pal in October, stating that she needed a plan and would not be leaving empty-handed.

When the judge questioned what she meant, she said that she needed a strategy to go quietly so that Mr. Giggs could not track her down and harass her.

She stated she was referring about the dog when she made the comment about walking away.

She said, "No, certainly not," when Mr. Giggs inquired as to whether she intended to become pregnant.

Ms. Greville said she did not remember continuing to have unprotected intercourse with Mr. Giggs and that she had not removed her contraceptive coil with the intention of becoming pregnant.

Mr. Daw said, "You have twisted the truth very skillfully to attempt to incriminate him in things he did not do." She denied lying "prolifically" to the police.

"You say in your different statements that lockdown was a period of living horror," said Chris Daw QC, the attorney for Mr. Giggs.

Having panic attacks was me. It was a terrible period."

According to testimony given to the court in the past, Mr. Giggs "deliberately headbutted" his ex-girlfriend and engaged in a "litany of abuse, both bodily and psychologically" in his personal life.

The court heard that on November 16, 2020, four days before she was questioned by the police regarding her accusations, a story from The Sun emerged.

The caption read, "Living hell: Ryan Giggs's ex spotted with a damaged lip in first outing since Wales manager's assault arrest," beside a picture of her walking her dog.

Messages between Ms. Greville and a friend from November 10 were read aloud.

A photograph of Ms. Greville, according to the acquaintance, would be for sale.

Ms. Greville proposed that they arrange a picture shoot and split the cost. The idea excited her companion.

We could receive £5K, Ms. Greville remarked.
